Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes

Since joining VMware a little over a year ago, we created a #1 Free Business App in the iPad App Store and a top-40 Free Business Android app. I am proud of the team and the work we have accomplished. VMware has an #awesome depth of products and talent. Recently, I was reviewing the list of technologies and adventures I want on my resume. I want to stay in mobile, but need to branch out on a different vein from the “big iron” apps that I have loved to work on so much. I want to take advantage of the current technologies and I love the speed of web innovations.

VMware acquired a couple of #AWESOME web app companies, Socialcast and SlideRocket! These companies are of a different DNA. They have the web technology back end that I crave and they have the small teams I prefer. After using the tools internally I was amped to be able to talk to the founder of Socialcast about my ideas. Tim (founder guy) scheduled time to meet and we vibed instantly. We had an hour or two of verbal jamming about what could be done with mobile and the Socialcast offerings of today and tomorrow. After meeting the team, Tim and I decided that Socialcast would be my new home. I am a social media addict and use the tools hourly.

So… As of November 14th, I will be the Sr. Product Manager for Mobile Applications at Socialcast in San Francisco. I will be in charge of a few products and I have the option to run a front to back project if I choose. The best part is that I will still be part of the VMware family, just in a different vertical.

I look forward to breaking into a new technology and getting into the social-based apps that I use so much everyday. Thanks the VMware View team for letting me be me and supporting the initial launches of VMware View for iPad, Android, and Cisco Cius. Our latest version just launched and I am damn proud of the apps and the developers that made it possible. A special thanks goes out to Pat Lee. Pat made it possible for me to do what I do best without having to worry about politics and the like.
